Tanna Benford Head Coach

I'm from Phil Campbell, Alabama, where I graduated in 2006. I continued my athletic career, playing basketball at Northwest Shoals Community College and then at The University of North Alabama. After graduating with a Physical Education degree, I started my teaching career at Tharptown Elementary, where I was at from 2013-2020. At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, I transferred to Tharptown High School. In my time at Tharptown, I have been the head coach for volleyball (2014 and 2015) and softball (2014-2018). I am entering my 6th season as the varsity girls basketball coach.

I am from Tharptown, Alabama, where I graduated in 2016. Throughout high school, I played softball, volleyball, basketball, competed for the track team, and participated in scholars bowl. I went on to Northwest-Shoals Community College and received my Associate Degree in 2018. From there, I transferred to the University of North Alabama where I received my Bachelor in Education with a concentration in Social Science in 2021. I began my teaching career at my alma mater, THS, during the 2021-2022 school year. I am an assistant coach for volleyball, basketball, and softball. I also am the sponsor for the THS High School Scholars Bowl Team.
