Welcome

  • The Franklin County Schools provide special education and related services so that all children are challenged and can develop into productive and successful citizens.  Special education is specially designed instruction, provided at no cost to parents, that meets the unique needs of a student with a disability.  Referrals may be made to the school counselor or special education coordinator.

Gifted students are those who perform at high levels in academic or creative areas when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment.  A student may be referred for consideration for gifted services by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents/guardians, peers, self, or any other individuals with knowledge of the student's abilities.  Additionally, all second grade students will be observed as potential gifted referrals using a gifted behavior checklist.  Referrals may be made to the school counselor, special education coordinator, or gifted teacher at your child's school.
