Dr. Susan Hargett holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama.  She has served as Community Education Director/Grants Writer/Evaluator and Administrator since November, 2001.  Her office has helped with over $15 million worth of funding to offer additional services to Franklin County and Russellville City Schools. Some of the programs and events through Community Education include: T.R.A.C.K.S. Afterschool Centers, Service Learning, Summer Programs, Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Prevention, Social Workers and Counselors, Emergency Readiness Management, Pre-Kindergarten, Comprehensive School Reform, Technology and Renovation, Literacy Materials for School Libraries, Imagination Library, Storytelling Festival, Farm Days, Northwest-Shoals Teen Day, YODA State Farm Service Learning, Credit Recovery, High Schools That Work, Making Middle Grades Work, Curriculum Improvement, Professional Development, the Y.E.S. Foundation, and many other various programs to help students.  Her philosophy of education is "If it is the right thing to do for kids.... it's the right thing to do. It may not be easy but through hard work and determination with God's help, we can make a difference!"
