"Studies have found that many children do not arrive at school with the skills they need. Although children in poverty are the furthest behind when they enter  school, children from middle-income families are as far behind children from  higher income families as poor children are behind the middle class. Most  American children are not achieving their potential prior to school entry, and  those who start behind tend to stay behind."

Franklin County Schools currently has three preschool locations at Red Bay, Belgreen, and Phil Campbell Elementary Schools.  These programs are designed to incorporate children into a school readiness curriculum.  Enrollment into the programs is on a voluntary basis and participants must be at least four years of age.  Interested parties should contact local schools for additional information regarding preschool enrollment.
